Amanda Brumfield, released from prison this fall in a deal with prosecutors, spoke publicly Tuesday for the first time about her case, about how she no longer trusts the criminal justice system and how she wants to help other women unjustly in prison. She was sentenced to 20 years for manslaughter in the death of her best friend's baby in 2011, a conviction that Innocence Project of Florida attorneys argued was based on "junk science."
